Remco is psychiatrist at the Parnassia Group and senior researcher in the topic of acute psychiatry and suicide prevention in Mental Health. He is also the Dutch representative for the international association for suicide prevention, chairman for platform emergency and social psychiatry for the Dutch psychiatric association, editor in Chief for Accredidact for psychiatrists and he is intensively involved in residency training. In 2012 he was ranked in the top 3 of psychiatrists in the Netherlands.
His PhD thesis concerned the dimensional approach for depressive disorders and now he is involved in several studies concerning research for suicidal behavior in mental health (see also his website www.suicidaliteit.nl).
Remco is doing a lot of projects for a better qualitative treatment for inpatient and acute patients with suicidal behaviour like the usage and development of automation rooms for suicidal patients. He has also, with dr. Marieke de Groot, translated and introduced the CAMS in the Netherlands.
Remco’s mission is to get suicide prevention in mental health to a higher level by education, management, innovations, networks and scientific research.
